Austria-born Alfred Pawlin was one of the earliest gallerist in Thailand, having founded Visual Dhamma Gallery in Bangkok in 1981. His interest in art, music and spirituality, especially Buddhism led him to be an important promoter of the works of many significant Thai artists working broadly with Buddhist iconography including Pratuang Emjaroen and Pichai Nirand.
